The Amazon* Dash Application Concept was inspired by research I was doing on visual search and the LOOK App. While looking at the current Amazon Dash Buttons, which are part of the rising internet-of-things (IOT), I thought, why not also have the convenience of Dash – anywhere? Why not make an application for wearable devices that can order any household product – or anything on Amazon? Since the Dash App concept was developed, Amazon has added a camera icon for visual search to some versions of its Amazon Shopping app. But the Amazon Dash App Concept offers a simpler user interface, and extends the concept and functionality to a broader range of mobile hardware devices – including wearable devices like the camera-equipped Samsung Gear 2.
The Amazon Dash Application Concept marries the strength of cloud-based visual search engines to wearable devices – offering the convenience of a see-it-buy-it shopping experience.
Most smart watches – including the latest iteration of the Apple iWatch – lack a camera. But as customer demand increases, prices, component sizes and power requirements continue to fall, inevitably cameras will become ubiquitous in the wearable device space. The Amazon Dash Application Concept leverages that trendline.
Today, the Samsung Gear 2 Smart Watch, is one of the few smart watches that has a camera onboard, and because of that, the Samsung Tizen operating system became a perfect platform to explore the technology, and to be the basis of this prototype.

Amazon Dash App Concept Process:
Advantage over Amazon Dash Buttons:
• Buy Anything – Not Just a Single Item
• Reorder Any Item
• Shop Amazon Anywhere & Everywhere
• See-It-Buy-It Capability
• Price Comparison at any Point of Sale
The visual search revolution is only beginning. The Amazon Dash App Concept uses visual search to make the shopping experience even easier – reducing the friction of a purchase – which could bolster Amazon's sales and bottomline.
